OUR
STORY

"Success comes from knowing that you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming."

- John Wooden

Both Mike and Kyleigh have a shared passion for sports.  As former DI collegiate athletes, sports have played an integral role in developing them into the humans that they are today.  Sports go beyond performance and instill many valuable life lessons that positively impact the trajectory of our successes.  After recognizing their common pursuit to positively impact the lives of our youth through sports, Stay True Basketball was born.  It is their goal to provide a platform and space where young athletes can tap into their athletic potential while gaining the experiences that will help positively shape them into motivated, collaborative and resilient individuals in all areas of life.

Mike is a former DI & Professional basketball player with over 20 years of experience playing, coaching and training.  He grew up in Northboro, MA and attended Algonquin Regional High School where he was a part of one of the most winning programs in the school's history.  He led his team to back-to-back District Championships, and earned Telegram & Gazette, Central Massachusetts, Metro West and Mid Wach B All Star honors.  Following his junior year, he re-classed and spent two years at The Rivers School, where he was a 2x All ISL Selection and a McDonalds All American Nominee.

After a successful high school career and notable performance during the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp's All-Star game leading into his senior year, Mike received many DI scholarship offers.  He chose to attend La Salle University, where he was a 4-year starter and senior Captain.

His success on the court continued after college.  Mike competed in the Eurobasket Summer League in NYC.  He led his team to a championship victory and was named to the All-Tournament and All-Big Man teams.  From there, he went on to achieve a 9-year professional career, playing in countries all over the world, including Romania, Poland, Denmark, Norway and Japan.  During his professional career, Mike earned 3 All-Star selections.

Following retirement, he was given the opportunity to intern with Integrity Hoops in LA where he assisted renowned basketball trainer, Noah LaRoche, with player development training for NBA, FIBA and NCAA basketball players.  He led on court skills and situational trainings, as well as strength and conditioning programming. This experience was instrumental in advancing Mike's coaching and training career. Since then Mike has trained players of all levels - from youth to NBA - and has coached for both club and Prep School programs in MA.

Mike’s passion for helping players maximize their potential and providing them opportunities to be successful is the driving force behind his coaching and training philosophy on and off the court. He is passionate about sharing his experiences and knowledge with young players to help them step into a promising future.

Kyleigh was born and raised in Lexington, MA.  Her passion for sports started at a young age.  She was an avid, 4-sport athlete growing up.  She attended Lexington High School where she landed starting positions on both the Varsity Ice Hockey and Varsity Lacrosse teams her freshman year.  By senior year, she was named captain of both teams and earned Middlesex League All Star honors for both sports.

Her athletic and academic successes allowed her to continue her endeavors at Dartmouth College, where she was recruited to play for the Women's Lacrosse Team. Unfortunately, she experienced a career-ending injury her sophomore year, but remained an active member of the team until graduating.  During her four years in Hanover, she earned a degree in Psychology.

Upon graduating, Kyleigh began her career working for a sports marketing company in Boston where she helped professional athletes and reputable businesses build their brands through strategic marketing campaigns.  After three years, she continued onto a public relations agency where she managed multiple lifestyle brand accounts.  Currently, she continues to help organizations build marketing plans and execute first-class events that drive overall brand awareness.

Kyleigh has a passion for impacting youth through sports and loves bringing brands to life through her creative talents.
